Jul 21, 2017 · The mini PCI Express (mPCIE) slot looks the same as the mSATA and the drive will fit just fine. The only problem is, it won’t work. The mSATA standard is obsolete, though you will come across it in some older computers. The M.2 (NGFF) connector can be a source of confusion, because it accommodates so many different types of drives.
One of the motherboards we use at work has a dual purpose PCIe/mSATA port on it. You can swap it out in the BIOS. We can put storage or something like a wireless adapter into it. Kind of cool. You cannot plug an msata card directly into the pcie slot. You're better off plugging an SSD into the onboard plugs, and get a pcie data controller card

Oct 31, 2022 · After the mSATA clone finished, you can start to boot computer from it. 1. Shut down the computer. 2. Take out the original mSATA SSD using screwdrivers. 3. Start the computer and enter BIOS setting. 4. Go to the Boot option and set the cloned mSATA as the first boot option.
Dec 24, 2013 · You should just stick with a single, 2.5" SSD. mSATA is for laptops without the space for even a 2.5" SSD or to be used in conjunction with a Hard Drive essentially as an SSHD (hybrid drive). The noticeable performance past a single, half-decent SSD drops to basically NOTHING anyway. 0. T.
Jul 23, 2020 · My desktop PC came with a 32GB mSATA SSD to provide caching for the HDD which I believe is managed by Intel Rapid Storage Technology (IRST). The PC only has one HDD and the 32GB mSATA SSD. I'm installing a new 2.5" 1TB SSD and will be freshly installing my Windows 10 and all programmes onto it rather than cloning.
